I've been guilty of the same, years ago, and I've paid for it.
I find that I get more mileage by building alternatives than by tearing down what I don't like. There is probably a lesson here for any political hack:
Tearing stuff down is a short term answer. Building something better is more expensive and longer term approach, but it is also a much more productive way to deal with things.
